What is it
Tush kiyiz is hung on the honorary side of the dwelling, behind the hosts and guests. The work takes months, sometimes years, and begins long before the wedding. The panel was not bought — it was made for a specific person for a specific event, and one could read from it which family the bride came from.
Why this works as a gift today
A wall panel is the only format that preserves the original function of an object: it marks an event and remains in the home. A corporate souvenir lives for a week, but a panel for a wedding or a company anniversary hangs for years, each time recalling the occasion for which it was made.
